"Bounty Land ... Revisited" 100th Anniversary of Summer Home Park

This 183 page coffee table style book in color is chuck full of more than 300 photos and written history of SHP since 1872. In that year our land was given Sargent Edward J. Bruff  as a reward for his fighting efforts in the Mexican War.

The book includes a blow by blow coverage of the social seasons from 1935 to 2008, and an enumeration of all members of the Improvement Club Board of Directors since 1913 and Corporation Board since 1959.

"In 1962, Gabby and Bert Johnck published Bounty Land, a well researched book on the history and development of Summer Home Park. Bounty Land provides the organizational framework for Bounty Land ... Revisited in that the original chapters are reproduced in full and embellished and brought current to 2008. Some new chapters or subsections are added with this edition. The book is organized by topics rather than being an overall chronology.

Additional historical material and anecdotes have been received from Houghtie Sawyer, Carol Langloise Hall, Dave Kohnke, Virge Walsh, and Ed Brush. We have incorporated excerpts from Letters to Pearl, which is a lengthy series of personal recollections of the early days of the Park written by Philip R Wood at the request of Pearl Smith and Houghtie Sawyer for a book of the Park which was never completed. Other updates, and records of Park directors and officers, are added by the authors."

The book costs $95 plus $15 shipping and packaging. Send your order to the Guru's email, or call cell 4156013875. Make checks out to "Bounty Land Revisited" and mail to John Johnck, 44 Potomac St, San Francisco CA 94117.
